Today Whitehall is used as a Norwegian Church of Sjomannskirken. The Sjomannskirken uses Whitehall as a church abroad for people travelling from overseas particularly from Norwegien. The church uses the building for prayer, meals, weddings etc. The original Whitehall has had some changes made to it over the years, which is unusual because the building has become a heritage site because of its connection to Australia's history as it is over 130 years old and its relation to Australia's first Prime Minister.
The building has settled into the community of Balgowlah, apart from the Sjomannskirken sign out the front many people would think that it doesn't have any significance apart from the church. The Council has placed a sculpture and plaque of Sir Edmund Barton at Federation Point on the Manly Science Walkway and placed a sign in front of Whitehall about it s significance
